Hello and welcome to our English website!
This is my fourth year teaching at Papio South. My daughter, Hayden Marie, was born in late July, so I will not be at school for the first few weeks of the 2014-2015 school year. I trust that you will put forth your best effort during my absence and I look forward to working with you when I return.
My teaching experience began during my undergraduate program. As a student I completed several practicums in a variety of Omaha area secondary schools. In the fall of 2010 I student taught 10th and 12th grade students at Gross Catholic High School. After graduating in December I worked as a substitute teacher for several local school districts. I also taught for a 21st Century Community Learning Center at the Mount View Boys and Girls Club, where I designed and led academic and enrichment activities for students in an after-school program. During my first year at PL South I finished coursework for my Master's of science in secondary education with an English concentration. This past summer I wrote my thesis and completed a second Master's degree in English. I truly love learning and especially enjoy applying what I learn in the classroom. It is my goal to make my instruction engaging and effective, and I look forward to sharing my enthusiasm for great literature with you.
When I'm not teaching or taking classes, I enjoy reading, running, and spending time with friends and family. I have been married for five years. My husband and I have two cats and a black lab/border collie named Molly. I'm sure you will hear plenty of stories about crazy Molly and our new baby this year.
In addition to classroom teaching, I work as an Upward Bound Club mentor teacher and sponsor PL South's LEO Club with Ms. Thornton. If you are interested in help getting to college and funding your education, or if you like to volunteer, please see me about these great opportunities!
Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. My email address is [email protected]. I look forward to a great year!
